Pon earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley in 1985, graduating Beta Alpha Psi. While attending Berkeley for two years, Pon was a Tax Senior at Arthur Young. Lawrence Pon went on to further his education by attending Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California, receiving his M.S. degree in Taxation. During his studies at Golden Gate University, Pon was a Tax Supervisor at Coopers & Lybrand. After graduation, Pon became a Senior Manager at American Express Tax and Business Services for five years, providing tax and accounting services to individuals and small businesses. After years of education and experience, Pon started a sole proprietorship, Pon & Associates, which has been going strong for over a decade, providing clientele with tax, business, estate, and financial planning. Lawrence Pon has extended his success by having a hand in writing two books related to the finance and philanthropic industries: “Giving: Philanthropy for Everyone” and “Love, Money, Control: Reinventing Estate Planning.” Through his endeavors, Pon gives back to the community with the knowledge he has garnered. Staying involved in professional organizations, such as the California Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, and NAEA Financial Planning Association, keeps Pon informed on new procedures and regulations in the financial world. Pon is also a firm proponent of charity work, supporting the Asian Pacific Fund and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
