President of Lee Minshull R.C. INC.

Numismatist Lee Minshull has been collecting rare coins since he was a child, and he now runs his own rare coin business, Lee Minshull Rare Coins, Inc. In addition, Lee Minshull has held several other numismatics positions. He is a member of several professional associations. Lee Minshull began collecting coins in 1968 and attended his first coin show in 1971. By the age of 13, Lee Minshull was advertising in local newspapers to buy coins for his collection. A shrewd investor, Lee Minshull made a significant amount of money trading silver as a teenager. In 1976, Lee Minshull recognized a trend in the price of silver and began selling the metal to local coin dealers, securing several months of profits before the commodities market realized the trend. Lee Minshull continues to use this investment sense to trade rare coins. In 1976, Lee Minshull received a scholarship to attend the American Numismatic Association Summer Seminar. Based on his experience, Lee Minshull wrote to the Executive Vice President of the association, Ed Rochette, proposing the concept of an American Numismatic Association internship. Lee Minshull subsequently served as the first intern, where he gained experience in all aspects of numismatics and served as a teaching assistant for a counterfeit detection course. After high school, Lee Minshull joined the Steve Ivy Rare Coin Company, where he worked as a cataloger and consignment coordinator. After Steve Ivy and Jim Halperin formed Heritage Rare Coin Galleries, Lee Minshull ran the new firm’s wholesale department for more than a decade. Lee Minshull founded his own numismatics company in 1992. Lee Minshull Rare Coins specializes in United States $20 Liberty coins from the mid-19th century.
