Loren Weiss is currently a student at the prestigious Stuyvesant High School in New York City.

With a history of excellence in academic and extracurricular pursuits, Loren Weiss is between his junior and senior years at Stuyvesant High School, one of New York City’s nine specialized schools. These educational facilities were developed to provide a tuition-free outlet for the city’s academically gifted youth. Stuyvesant gives advanced students like Loren Weiss a high-quality education in math and science. The school ranks 31st in U.S. News & World Report’s list of the best public high schools in the United States, and has produced several scholars of note, including four Nobel Laureates. Loren Weiss and his fellow students undergo Stuyvesant’s college preparatory curriculum, which requires four years of English social studies and sciences, including Living Environment, Chemistry, and Physics. Additionally, Stuyvesant offers an eclectic collection of elective courses, such as New York City History, Women’s Voices, and Plasma Physics. Loren Weiss also ranks highly as a chess player among individuals his age. He participates on the Stuyvesant High School chess team, competing in national tournaments. The school’s team placed first in Nashville, second in Atlanta, and second in Columbus. Loren Weiss further develops his skills through involvement with the Marshall Chess Club in Greenwich Village, which has a reputation for having housed some of the world’s best chess players throughout the years. Weiss also is a member of the United States Chess Federation, a nonprofit organization with over 80,000 members to date. On top of his academic pursuits, Loren Weiss enjoys giving back to the community through volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. He also contributed to lung cancer research by completing the Free to Breathe Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk in Philadelphia.
