As a designer for UFO Contemporary, Inc., Lorna Brody plays an integral part in the company’s development of dance, street, sport, and fitness fashions. The company was established in 1967, growing out of a 1940s military surplus store called An-Ev. When An-Ev expanded into jeanswear and casual pants, it rebranded itself UFO.

Today’s UFO fashions pay homage to the company’s earlier incarnation, providing military surplus inspired dance and fitness fashions around the world. Current lines from UFO focus on street and sport, fashion fitness, and dance styles anchored in today’s musical and artistic culture. Along with lines for adults, UFO Contemporary, Inc., also produces kids’ and youth lines.

The casual fashions provide stylish, movable dance or exercise clothes with a clear street inspiration. Hints of the company’s former military surplus background can be seen in fabrics and clothing design. Some of the fashions are especially versatile, converting to other usable objects. For instance, wind pants become either a sling bag or a backpack, and a parka converts to a backpack.
