Madeleine Lansky, M.D. is deeply interested in the relationship between individuals’ experience and the natural environment. Previously an environmental education instructor of fifth and sixth graders in Mendocino and Santa Cruz, California, Madeleine Lansky founded Profound Sustainability in 2009. Profound Sustainability, a collective focused on the belief that humans’ lives are affected by their interactions with nature, aims to foster emotional resilience through work with the environment. In addition to her responsibilities with Profound Sustainability, Madeleine Lansky practices psychiatric medicine from two office locations.

Madeleine Lansky, M.D. graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, where she was the recipient of the M. Ralph Kauffman Award for Excellence in Psychiatry. After earning her medical degree, Madeleine Lansky moved to California to pursue extensive post-graduate training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). In her time at UCSF, Dr. Lansky finished a general psychiatry residency as well as a child and adolescent fellowship.

A board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, Madeleine Lansky practices in San Francisco and Oakland, California. Dr. Lansky specializes in psychotherapy, and works with individual children, teens and adults, as well as families and couples. Madeleine Lansky’s philosophy revolves around the patient; she understands that every person is different, and as such, requires highly specialized treatment.

A devoted member of the medical community, Madeleine Lansky is affiliated with the San Francisco Center of Psychoanalysis, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and the UCSF Department of Psychiatry. When she is not treating patients, teaching, speaking, or consulting, Dr. Lansky facilitates the healthy redevelopment of Haiti and teaches about the mental health benefits of implementing a “Triple Bottom Line”, which is defined as economic profit, environmental sustainability, and social equity.
