Makeela Searles began her career path on the island nation of Barbados in the Lesser Antilles, one of the Caribbean’s top tourist destinations. After serving as a Waitress at Brown Sugar Restaurant, she accepted a position as a Phone Technician at Barbados Business Machines Ltd. There, she implemented virus protection programs, processed defective phones, and programmed cellular phones in a team environment. Her next position took her to the Royal Westmoreland golf resort. As Café Attendant, Makeela Searles reconciled daily transactions and honed her customer service skills. Upon relocating to Massachusetts, Makeela Searles accepted employment at Mercury Rising Development & Construction in Belmont. Serving as an Office Assistant, she took telephone messages, scheduled appointments, fielded vendor inquiries, and assisted in preparing documents. Makeela Searles also acted as office support for management personnel and coordinated office supply ordering. In 2007, Makeela Searles joined Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, one of the oldest general hospitals in the country. In 2008, “Mass General” became a magnet hospital, credentialed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a site providing nursing excellence. As a Patient Service Coordinator at the facility, Makeela Searles checks in patients, answers and processes telephone calls, and handles test requests and scheduling. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word, she has received two promotions during her tenure. After completing primary and secondary school in Barbados, Makeela Searles attended Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic. In Boston, she studied business management at Northeastern University. Presently, Makeela Searles takes business management courses at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston. In other pursuits, she finds pleasure in cooking and shopping.
