Marc Packles has served top-ranking global financial companies for over 15 years, focusing on derivative hybrid products and business development. Marc Packles lives in New York City and holds experience with convertible bonds, fixed-income credit products, mortgages, and equity derivatives.

Marc Packles attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1996 with two degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Finance from The Wharton School and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Bioengineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Packles earned dean’s list honors for his accomplishments in both areas of study during the 1993-1994 academic year.

While still in college, Marc Packles began his financial career as a Summer Associate with UBS AG, gaining experience in equity derivatives trading on the American Stock Exchange. Upon graduation, Marc Packles accepted a position with Salomon Brothers as a Senior Trader and Director of Equity Derivatives. In this role, he worked primarily with index options, individual stocks, and over-the-counter, derivative products. Marc Packles developed and implemented proprietary correlation strategies for the U.S. and Latin American markets, focusing on risk, volatility arbitrage, and fundamental analysis methods. Through his work, he also learned about swaps and synthetic convertible bonds.

In 2002, Marc Packles accepted a promotion to Director of Mortgage Trading at Citigroup. He oversaw trading of mortgage products, with a focus on collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs). In addition to orchestrating trades, Marc Packles also structured products and hedged the firm’s positions.

While at Citigroup, Marc Packles also served as the Director and Desk Head of Hybrid Capital Securities. In this role, he launched a new credit trading business for the company, covering equity and fixed-income hybrid products. Marc Packles’ group quickly grew to become a major contributor to the Citigroup franchise, solidifying the firm’s top ranking in the issuance tables several years in a row.

Most recently, Marc Packles accepted a position with Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. as the Managing Director and Co-head of Derivatives Trading, drawing on more than a decade of experience with structured products. Outside of his professional life, Packles also competes in triathlons and is an avid chess player.
