Marc Peters is a noted mental health advocate and has worked nationwide with Active Minds, Inc. to organize students to decrease the stigma surrounding mental health issues. He recently served as a regular blogger for Glenn Close’s mental health advocacy group: BringChange2Mind. He currently serves on the board of National Alliance on Mental Illness: Arkansas.

Marc has also distinguished himself in politics. He helped co-founded Naturally Blue PAC to bring progressive values back in the South and currently serves as the PAC’s Communications Director. From 2007-2008, Marc worked as national student blog director for the Obama for America presidential campaign. He also worked Mark Critz’s successful special election congressional campaign.

He notes his most meaningful experiences at Syracuse University as participating in A Men’s Issue for four years, coordinating a nonviolence mentoring program with the Jenna Foundation for Nonviolence in Syracuse City schools, and serving as the Vice President of the Office of Multicultural Affairs’ Student Advisory Board.

In 2004, he was inducted as a Horatio Alger National Scholar and in 2007 was recognized as one of the top 65 public servants in his graduating class by the Harry S. Truman Foundation. In March of 2012, Marc was initiated into the Pi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
