American minister, televangelist, and Christian broadcaster Marcus Lamb heads one of the two largest Christian television networks in the world. Marcus Lamb founded Daystar Television Network in 1997, and serves as Chief Executive Officer and President. Daystar has experienced the swiftest growth of any Christian broadcasting network in recent years. Raised in Macon, Georgia, Marcus Lamb felt called to preach at the age of 15. At the age of 19, he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Lee University, a private Christian institution in Cleveland, Tennessee. Marcus Lamb established Word of God Fellowship in 1980, and married his wife, Joni, in 1982. The couple launched their careers as Christian broadcasters in 1985, with WMCF-TV 45 in Montgomery, Alabama. Marcus Lamb, at the age of 27, had created the first Christian television network in the state of Alabama, and claimed the youngest ownership of any television network in the country. Continuing his television ministry at KPMX-TV 29 in Dallas, and eventually on KDTN, Marcus Lamb founded Daystar to expand the reach of his ministry across the world. Marcus Lamb’s Daystar Television Network airs original programs by Marcus and Joni Lamb, including Marcus Lamb Ministries, and the talk shows Celebration and Joni. In addition, the network broadcasts other popular ministries, such as Rod Parsley, T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer, and Brian Houston. Joel Osteen, the best-selling author of Your Best Life Now, and Become a Better You, and pastor of the largest religious congregation in the country, Lakewood Church in Houston, also appears on the Daystar Television Network. Daystar airs a wide array of children’s animated shows, and Celebration recently created its own children’s animated special, The Cheesy Adventures of Captain Mac A. Roni.
Marcus Lamb graduated with the distinction of magna cum laude at the age of 19 from Lee University, a private, comprehensive university located in Cleveland, Tennessee, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Lee is emerging as a leader in higher education in the southeastern region and was ranked in 2010 in the “Top Tier” in the South by U.S. News & World Report (Comprehensive Medium- Size Universities). Lee is also ranked by Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges” and is now one of the 141 colleges named Best in the Southeast. The university’s growing reputation as a quality institution can be seen in the high caliber of faculty, students, and friends who are drawn to the campus. This marks the 25th straight year of increased enrollment under the leadership of president, Dr. Paul Conn.
Over the past two decades, Lee has become one of the largest Christ-centered private institutions in Tennessee and the largest in the Appalachian College Association. During that period, the university has undergone a remarkable transformation that has included significant growth in academic programs, student enrollment, faculty expertise and diversity, as well as an expanded sense of mission and vision.
Marcus Lamb was born October 7, 1957, in Cordele, GA and raised in Macon, GA. He began preaching as an Evangelist in 1973 at the age of 15. At the age of 16, Marcus enrolled in Lee University in Cleveland, TN. At age 19, he began his final senior semester and graduated Magna Cum-Laude

The Montgomery station was sold to another Christian ministry in 1990, and the Lamb’s moved to Dallas, TX, to build KMPX-TV29. Through a series of miracles and divine favor, TV 29 went on the air full power in September of 1993. An evangelical television minister and the founder of Daystar Television Network, Marcus Lamb expresses great admiration for the books of Joel Osteen. Both Lamb and Osteen share a similar focus: spreading the word of Jesus Christ to a world in need of good news.
While both men share God’s word with millions via a dynamic television ministry, Osteen also communicates through the written word as a prolific author. Osteen’s books center on becoming a better person and living a better life through God’s promise.
Below, you will find a brief summary of some of his works.
1. Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential In his first book, Osteen shares the seven steps he took to achieve a successful and prosperous life. In order to live your best life, Osteen contends, you must focus on the present moment and on making the most of the gifts God has given you. Osteen’s roadmap provides a clear path: enlarge your vision, develop a healthy self-image, discover the power of your thoughts and words, let go of the past, find strength through adversity, live to give, and choose to be happy. By following the steps Osteen outlines and living in God’s light, you can transform your life to one of vitality, faith, and prosperity.
2. Become a Better You: 7 Keys to Improving Your Life Every Day In his second book, Osteen encourages you to take action toward finding your individual purpose and fulfilling God’s plan for you by providing seven practical steps designed to help you uncover and live a meaningful life.
3. It’s Your Time: Activate Your Faith, Achieve Your Dreams, and Increase in God’s Favor In It’s Your Time, Osteen presents a call to action by challenging you to recognize the tremendous power God has granted you to change your life. Activities of the Church of God
February, 2011
Bishop Marcus Lamb, ordained by the Church of God and a graduate of the Church’s Lee University, leads the Daystar Television Network, ministering around the world via Christian broadcasting. Since its foundation over a century ago, the Church of God has engaged in a wide range of activities in support of Christians and the needy, a commitment that Marcus Lamb continues through the Daystar Television Network.
The foundational beliefs of the Church of God include the following five tenets:
The Bible is infallible and incapable of error.
Jesus Christ is God, and He was born to the Virgin Mary.
Christ died for our sins.
The body of Christ was literally resurrected.
Christ will return to the earth in a literal, bodily form.
All of the organization’s activities center around promoting these beliefs and deepening the faith of its members.
The Church of God believes strongly in the value of Christian education and maintains a number of educational institutions. These range from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, to the Bulgarian Theological College in Sofia, Bulgaria. Additionally, the Church of God offers online courses through a number of organizations. Programs range from Christian-focused liberal arts education to ministerial training and development programs. Schools exist in locations across North and South America and Europe.
Evangelism also plays an important part in the work of the Church of God. The Church of God World Missions program, in operation since 1910, spreads the message of the Bible across the globe, with a presence on all six continents. Missionaries are selected from lay members of the Church following an application process that evaluates their physical and mental health, other obligations, and suitability for missionary work.
Additionally, the Church of God maintains organizations to assist the work of its members. The Church Planting organization, for instance, assists new churches to achieve stability. A number of other ministries also cater to the needs of specific populations.

Marcus Lamb and the Alpha Chi Honor Society
February, 2011
As President and Chief Executive Officer of Daystar Television Network, one of the two largest Christian television networks in the world, Marcus Lamb’s mission is to spread the word of God. Marcus Lamb studied at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, from 1974 to 1977, where he earned a degree in Theology. During his time at the university, Marcus Lamb received an invitation to join the prestigious Alpha Chi Honor Society.
Alpha Chi serves as an American collegiate honor society that recognizes scholarship achievements and promotes academic excellence and virtuous character among college students. It was founded in 1922 when leaders from five top Texas schools met at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Students who are invited to join Alpha Chi must be in the top 10 percent of their classes. Approximately 11,000 students gain membership each year through the organization’s 300 chapters, which exist in nearly every state as well as Puerto Rico. The society’s name comes from the Greek words Aletheia and Xapakthp, which mean truth and character, respectively. Alpha Chi’s official colors are emerald green, signifying victory, and sapphire blue, representing truth. Alpha Chi’s motto comes from the Gospel of John: “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (8:32).
Alpha Chi has expanded its benefits and programs over the years to include an Active Alumni status for members who want to stay involved after college. The society also publishes two editions of its journal, The Recorder, one for current students, and one for alumni. Alpha Chi provides grants to encourage chapters to engage in scholarly activities and promote the society’s presence on campuses. Additionally, members and active alumni are eligible to receive scholarships to continue their studies or return to an academic program.
Alpha Chi’s annual convention is an opportunity for members to expand their knowledge and add to their résumés. The 2011 Alpha Chi national convention will take place in San Diego, California, from March 31 to April 2 at the Marriott Mission Valley. The theme is Go West, Alpha Chi!, and the event will feature student presentations, guest speakers, chapter workshops, and a service project to collect and distribute books to local groups.
