Mark D. Ambrose, MD, a psychiatrist based in Garden City, New York, initially received a BA in Biology from Franklin & Marshall College. Following his undergraduate work, he attended New York Medical College and earned an MD in 1975.

In 1979, Mark D. Ambrose, MD, completed his residency in psychiatry at Columbia University’s St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. After the completion of his residency, Dr. Ambrose accepted a fellowship at The State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he managed an inpatient treatment team.

After completion of the fellowship, Mark D. Ambrose spent 14 years working primarily as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at the New York University Medical Center. His duties also included working as Supervising Physician in the residency training unit of Bellevue Hospital Center. It was the primary academic unit in Bellevue Hospital Center, and the facility where psychiatric residents from New York University received their training. Dr. Ambrose supervised second year residents there, as well as overseeing third and fourth year residents in the long-term psychotherapy treatment of outpatients.

Mark D. Ambrose, MD, established his private practice in 1983. Focusing on anxiety issues and depression, he employs both medication and psychotherapy treatments. He conducts initial visits in a relaxed conversational format to encourage a free flow of ideas and establish a congenial rapport between patient and doctor. If medication is required, Mark D. Ambrose, MD, discusses the benefits and risks of pharmaceutical treatment. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
