Dr. Mark Kabins obtained his B.S. in Biology and Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, then graduated with his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a medical student, he was a finalist for the Otto Saphir Memorial Award in Pathology and was selected from a national pool of applicants to attend the 71st Annual Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons. In 1987, Dr. Kabins completed a one-year internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He subsequently undertook a four-year residency in orthopedics at the same institution. In 1992, he completed his education with a fellowship in spine studies at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Since 1993, Dr. Mark Kabins has served as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. In 2006, he accepted a role as Adjunct Clinical Supervisor at the Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he taught medical students. With a dedication to expanding his knowledge and skills, Dr. Mark Kabins has served as an Advisory Board Member for The Spine Journal, the most prestigious international journal for spine surgery, for the past 18 years. Dr. Mark Kabins participates in a number of continuing education seminars each year. In 2010, he attended the ProDisc-L Surgeon Education Program in San Francisco, where he undertook training in Advanced Cervical Solutions. He also participated in the PBI Professional Boundaries Course, offered by the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.
