Mr. Mark Prince was raised in Boston, Massachusetts and attended college at the University of Maine at Farmington, where he opened the subjects of diversity and an African-American Studies program up for discussion. Now an educator with a decade and a half of experience, Mark Prince has used his college experiences for the benefit of his students and staff. Throughout his career as a teacher and administrator, Mark Prince consistently engages in active anti-racism and engineers curricula focused on equitable learning and cultural diversity. As Principal of Wildwood Elementary School in Amherst, Massachusetts for three years, Mark Prince implemented a successful recruitment and retention program to encourage an increase in staff diversity. At Wildwood, Mark Prince also collaborated with his staff to attain a Foreign Language Assistance Program grant of $150,000 to teach Mandarin Chinese. As Principal, Mark Prince closed Wildwood’s achievement gap by one-third through the alignment of reform efforts and an improvement plan. A member of the district administrative team while Wildwood’s Principal, Mark Prince mentored the school’s young teachers, provided for increased professional development opportunities, and evaluated instruction. Currently, Mark Prince is an Education Specialist at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, where he concerns himself with emerging policy issues and State Performance Plan Indicators and regulations. Recently, Mark Prince developed a data tracking system for students on 504 plans and held public hearings and on-site program reviews. Also having been a tenured Teacher at the Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland, Mark Prince acted as a faculty advisor for the Multicultural Student Alliance and belonged to the school’s Diversity, Community for Outreach and Scholarship committees. Mark Prince has been nominated to join the Association of Independent Maryland Schools Steering Committee. In addition to his Bachelor of Arts in History, Mark Prince holds a Master of Education in Education Administration from Boston College.
