An educator and administrator for more than 25 years, Mark Robertson has held numerous positions as a teacher and principal in the greater Seattle metropolitan area and elsewhere. A longtime resident of Washington state, Mark Robertson initially enrolled at St. Martin’s College in Lacey following graduation from high school. After a brief period at St. Martin’s College, Mark Robertson transferred to Western Washington University in Bellingham, where he shifted his academic focus from business and computer science to elementary education after working at a summer camp for troubled youth. During his time at Western Washington University, Mark Robertson played on the school football team (and earned a nomination to the All Evergreen Conference Football Team), served as president of Black Unified Students, and functioned as Assistant to Vice President Tim Douglas. Graduating from Western Washington University in June 1983 with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education, Mark Robertson soon secured a position with the Federal Way School District as a teacher and coach. From July 1983 to July 1989, Mark Robertson performed various duties as a fourth and fifth grade teacher and coach of track, gymnastics, and football at the Brigadoon and Twin Lakes Elementary Schools. In 1985, Mark Robertson temporarily relocated to Washington, D.C., to pursue graduate studies in Educational Administration at Howard University. Finishing first in his class in December 1986, Mark Roberts returned to Federal Way with his Master’s degree in Education and a newfound interest in the administrative aspects of his profession. After completing an administrative internship through the Federal Way School District, Mark Robertson landed a role as Assistant Principal, which he held for four years. Mark Robertson would go on to serve as a principal and administrator in the University Place School District, Seattle Public Schools, the District of Columbia Public Schools, and the Lake Washington School District. Since then, Mark Robertson has traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to function as Director of English at Khoi Viet College, and is currently President of the education consulting firm Dolphin Associates. Mark Robertson lives and works in Tacoma, Washington.
