Matt Ward is a lacrosse player in the US. After finishing a prep career at Landon School in suburban Washington, DC, he played for the University of Virginia, where he was a three time All-American and won the 2006 Tewaaraton Trophy. He led the Cavaliers to the 2003 and 2006 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships.In the latter year the Cavaliers were the first NCAA Division I mens’ lacrosse team to finish a season 17-0.

In 2006, Ward played for Major League Lacrosse’s Washington Bayhawks after being taken in the 1st round of the 2006 college draft, and was named MLL Rookie of the Year.
