Practicing gastroenterologist, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD is dedicated to broadening his own knowledge and improving his discipline. Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD has served residents of New York for more than three decades, and he has always kept abreast of new treatments and reached out to other doctors through teaching. A longtime New York resident, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD is a graduate of Yeshiva of Flatbush High School, Arista Brooklyn College of CUNY, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, where he earned both an MD and a MedScD. During his post-graduate work, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD undertook research on iron and sugar transport in the intestinal membranes and received thorough training on all aspects of gastroenterology and endoscopy. Since entering private practice, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD has maintained his extensive knowledge, specializing in several subfields, including liver biopsy, polypectomy, a variety of endoscopic procedures, and the infrared coagulation of hemorrhoids. Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD’s teaching experience includes his time as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn and as a teacher of residents at Maimonides Medical Center and Peninsula Hospital Center, where he is also an Attending Gastroenterologist. In addition to his clinical work, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD also freelances as a clinical case evaluator for law firms in the New York area. An active member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD is also a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. A lifelong New Yorker, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD is dedicated to his family; three of his children have already chosen careers in medicine, and his wife works with him at his office. In addition, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD enjoys playing the accordion, going on long road trips, and building model railroads. A valued member of his community, Matthew J. Guy, MD, MedScD serves on the Board of Governors at Belle Harbor Jewish Center and is an Emeritus Trustee and Emeritus Board of Education Member at Yeshivah of Flatbush.
