Throughout his adult life, Micaelo Balingit has remained focused on his goal of teaching high school and college mathematics and computer science. In his current position as a teacher at St. Joseph’s High School in Barrie, Ontario, Micaelo Balingit applies his advanced training in education and the sciences toward encouraging students’ interests in mathematics, physics, and computer science, the three subjects he teaches there.

In 1985, Micaelo Balingit enrolled at York University, where he trained in mathematics and earned his Bachelor of Science with Specialized Honors in Pure Mathematics in 1989. Micaelo Balingit remained at York University in Toronto to receive his Master of Arts in Pure Mathematics, as well as his high school teachable certifications in mathematics (Intermediate/Senior, Honor Specialist), physics (Senior), and general science (Intermediate/Senior).

After working as an Instructor of Business Mathematics at Humber College in Etobicoke, Ontario, and an Instructor of Mathematics/Statistics and Computers at DeVry Institute of Technology in Toronto for several years, Micaelo Balingit returned to York University, where he studied toward his Bachelor of Education, attaining his degree in 1999. Since earning his Bachelor of Education, Micaelo Balingit has taught at Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in Hamilton, Ontario, and completed an additional qualfications course in Senior Physics at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. From Queen’s University, Micaelo Balingit graduated with Honours Standing from this Additional Basic Qualifications course.

A longtime teacher in Ontario, Micaelo Balingit is an active member of the Ontario College of Teachers, the American Association of Physics Teachers, and the Ontario Association of Physics Teachers. As a staff member at St. Joseph’s High School, Micaelo Balingit maintains a multifaceted role that includes teaching, advising the student council, and overseeing the design of the school’s website. In addition, Micaelo Balingit produces educational films for the high school.
