Michael Gale is a passionate advocate for sustainable development and wildlife conservation. In particular, he believes in the profound potential of living institutions, such as zoos and aquariums, to influence public attitudes about wildlife and the environment. As the son of a West Virginia forest ranger, Michael has worked in education and communications for a variety of organizations including the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, the National Geographic Society, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. A Truman and Udall Scholar, Michael spent a year in Galway, Ireland researching nature conservation policy in the EU as a George Mitchell Scholar. He has also been extensively involved with SustainUS, the U.S. Youth Network for Sustainable Development. Michael is currently finishing an MPA at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University with a focus in environmental public administration.
