Dr. Michael Lavyne is a New York City neurosurgeon who specializes in spinal cord and nerve root problems. He gained his board certification in neurosurgery and has appeared for 15 straight years on Castle Connelly Medical Ltd.’s list of America’s Top Doctors. In 1980, Dr. Lavyne was among the first neurosurgeons in the nation to pioneer a groundbreaking, minimally invasive microsurgical technique to address problems with the spinal cord. At present, Dr. Michael Lavyne serves as an Attending Surgeon at two New York City hospitals, the Hospital for Special Surgery and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He made two important discoveries relating to brain obstruction and infection, and he has a United States patent for a neurological surgical tool to his credit. His private practice is located on East 55th Street in Manhattan.

Dr. Michael Lavyne additionally teaches at Weill Cornell Medical College, also located in Manhattan. As Clinical Professor of Neurological Surgery, he instructs students and residents in patient care and clinical research practices.
