An attorney with more than two decades of experience in his field, Michael Legamaro currently serves as a Partner at DLA Piper LLP in Chicago, Illinois. At DLA Piper, he is Co-Chair of the Global Private Client Group and Chair of the Chicago Tax Practice Department.

Commanding an impressive professional and academic background, Mr. Legamaro laid the foundations for his career while an undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Society, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Mortar Board. The recipient of an Antoinette Dames Prize for his work in economics and political science, Michael Legamaro graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor of Arts in 1983, after which he enrolled at the Northwestern University School of Law. Over the next three years, Mr. Legamaro continued to build upon his achievements, serving as Executive Editor of the Journal of Criminal Law & Criminology and pursuing studies in various aspects of domestic and international law. Earning his Juris Doctor in 1986, Michael Legamaro went on to spend three years in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the U.S. Army, followed by periods at major law firms such as Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP and Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP, and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Chicago.

Today, Mr. Legamaro provides abroad variety of tax and planning services in his work at DLA Piper. With expertise in a broad diversity of practice areas, including tax and business planning, estate planning, and mergers and acquisitions, he develops comprehensive financial solutions for clients of high net worth. Rated AV® Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, Michael Legamaro holds membership in the Transnational Tax Network’s Executive Committee, the International Tax Specialist Group, and the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, serving as Chair of the Chicago Branch.
