Mike Blascik: President, Shareholder @ Utility Selections, LLC

Mike Blascik played percussion for a few bands, in addition to some talented friends that were “jam buddies.” Played percussion for the band Due Time, where lead songwriter and bass player Jim Cerney, along with a talented left-handed guitar player, Kenny Duell, jammed in the Tampa Bay area. Kenny was also a talented songwriter as well and was influenced by numerous blues players. Jim and Ken both had phenomenal original compositions, as Mike added the dynamic percussion pieces, which complimented the music nicely. After the separation of Due Time, Mike jammed with some of his friends on a regular basis, creating sounds from the likes of many people in the local circuit. Although most of the music was experimental, there were many influences that were regulars at the studio.

After some time, the Blascik Blues Band was formed, that included locals, Andre, Van and Ned. Classic blues heavily influenced the band, and the BBB played many clubs in Tampa during its short tenure. The band was well received when playing out, but the band broke up after some unfortunate musical and personal differences.

Throughout the duration of both percussion gigs with Due Time and the BBB, Mike played electric guitar on his own, and sometimes with other percussion players. After developing his own style on electric guitar, he formed a band with longtime friend Kris Routt, who also had the ability to play multiple instruments. Mike and Kris often played guitar and drums together, switching instruments during jam sessions. After some time, they wrote some interesting songs and pieces, which were eventually recorded by themselves with their digital recorder. During this time, they connected with a talented percussion player named Hal Miller. Hal was a great influence that took the music to another level. His style is quite different from other drummers and added another solid element to the music.

The name the band jammed with was Routt Zero. Routt Zero recorded its own music and was also released on YouTube. All of the artwork on the videos for Salvaging Truce, Poppy is my Name, and What’s Wrong With Our World was created from the talented percussionist of Routt Zero, Hal Miller. Mike’s ‘floating’ style, which has lead and rhythmic chops, paints over Kris and Hal’s well-orchestrated sounds. 3 videos from Routt Zero:
