Neheda Barakat is a media producer and writer known for her production of national and international news, interviews, and investigation segments for Australian television.

Most recently, Neheda Barakat has made her mark as a freelance writer, making regular contributions on business leaders, companies and management trends for ‘BOSS’ magazine.

Neheda Barakat first broke into media production with Network Nine of Australia, where she worked first for the Melbourne and Sydney bureaus before moving to the Los Angeles bureau.

In 1994 Neheda Barakat moved to Nicosia, Cyprus, where she worked as a freelance producer. There, she covered current events in the Middle East and Africa for Australian and German networks.

In 1996, Neheda Barakat returned to Melbourne to work as a producer and researcher with Transmedia Productions.

In 1998, Ms. Barakat moved to ABC’s ‘7:30 Report,’ where she worked as Senior Producer and Acting Bureau Chief. There, she teamed with the Business and Economy Editor to produce a nightly segment for the show. Ms. Barakat also handled production and research duties on several segments featured on the prominent the weekly investigative program ‘Four Corners.’

In 1999 and 2000 the Melbourne Press Club chose stories produced for the ‘7:30 Report’ by Neheda for the Quill Award in the category of ‘Best TV Current Affairs.’

In 2002, Australian Broadcasting Corporation asked Ms. Barakat to create and executive-produce a weekly program called ‘Inside Business.’ In 2004, while still at ABC, Neheda Barakat brought her passion for production to her work as Consulting Producer on the full-length international documentary film Chasing God, which examines the subject of faith.

In 2006, Neheda Barakat accepted a special assignment to produce and script feature stories for the United Nations in New York. Her work for the UN included stories on children forced to work in mines in Burkina Faso and Tanzania, Iraqi refugees in Syria, war crimes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and a profile of the children of Israelis and Palestinians.

Neheda Barakat’s is currently on assignment in Israel working on several investigative stories.
