Nicholas E. Smith is a former Commissioner with the City of Berkeley, California.

He served as Chairman and member of the Labor Commission for three years, and served one year on the Housing Advisory Commission. On these bodies, he authored legislation for Council consideration.

In 1999, Smith founded NetFriendsOnline.com, a social networking portal. In honor of this achievement, Smith was honored by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, as apart of its National Anti-Drug Media Campaign.

He currently attends law school in New York City, where he was recently selected as a 2008 Charles H. Revson Law Students Public Interest Fellow. He intends to continue public service in the near future.
