Aspiring Architect
Since his childhood in Argentina, Nicholas Ravazzani has dreamed of being an architect. Growing up in Argentina, Nicholas Ravazzani completed his primary school education at St. Andrew’s Scots School, located in Buenos Aires. During his time at St. Andrew’s, Nicholas Ravazzani excelled in academics, earning a place as a finalist in the State of Buenos Aires Math Olympics. The highest-rated mathlete at his primary school, Nicholas Ravazzani made it through three rounds of the highly regarded math competition.
At St. Andrew’s, Nicholas Ravazzani’s activities included the theater, and he landed a lead role in the school’s rendition of the musical play RENT. An excellent singer, Nicholas Ravazzani performed numerous solos during the play.
Outside of academics, Nicholas Ravazzani spent his time in Buenos Aires helping feed the homeless children of the city. Passionate about helping those in need, Nicholas Ravazzani helped collect Christmas presents for these children as well, and he also contributed to several other charitable events. More recently, in New York City, Nicholas Ravazzani donated to the Bronx Zoo and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Additionally, he made a contribution to President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign.
An astute academic, Nicholas Ravazzani was recently admitted into the Senior School at Gordonstoun, located in Elgin, Moray, Scotland. Three generations of the British royal family claim the school as their alma mater. Nicholas Ravazzani currently takes part in a number of extracurricular activities. He has done a midnight run to help feed the homeless and is an avid basketball player. Universities are presently recruiting him after seeing his prowess in the sport.
Mature for his young age, Nicholas Ravazzani aspires to be an architect and was recently accepted as an intern at Rafael Vinoly Architects in New York City. His roles at Rafael Vinoly entail data entry, filing, and other general labor. Nicholas Ravazzani is taking steps to advance his career and, in so doing, accomplish his dreams.

A Student Intern’s View of Architect Rafael Viñoly

As an aspiring architect, I valued my 2011 summer internship at Rafael Viñoly Architects PC as an opportunity to acquire knowledge about the field. I also learned more about the chief architect and his professional philosophy.
A native of Uruguay, Rafael Viñoly lived in Argentina before settling in the United States. He founded his New York architectural firm, which now operates offices internationally, in 1983. Mr. Viñoly believes that architecture represents a dialogue with the forces of life and its purpose is to elevate public spaces. His commissions reflect this philosophy, providing important venues for civic connections. Examples of his work include the Tokyo International Forum, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, and the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
Rafael Viñoly now devotes much of his time to teaching and mentoring aspiring architects. He developed a tuition-free program to train architects in the fundamentals of building design and construction. This program assists students in developing the operational and intellectual skills for architectural practice. He also sponsors fellowships to assist students conduct original research that advances knowledge in the field of architecture.
