The wide selection of innovative, convenient, and pain-free cosmetic procedures available today highlight an individual’s most striking features with artistry and subtlety. At Sieveking Plastic Surgery, Dr. Sieveking carefully assesses the condition of a patient’s skin prior to initiating restorative procedures. Those who wish to eliminate mild to moderate wrinkles and acne scarring, for example, may consider investing in a ProFractional laser treatment, which reduces signs of aging and brightens the skin in only 20 to 30 minutes, with a complete healing time of less than two weeks.
Women and men seeking to eradicate pronounced wrinkles, sun damage, keratoses, scars, and pigment problems stand to greatly benefit from a MicroLaserPeel, a deep, non-chemical peel that vaporizes an extremely thin layer of the epidermis, also stimulating collagen production. Requiring no anesthetic in most cases, the MicroLaserPeel serves as an excellent alternative to full skin resurfacing. Another option available at Sieveking Plastic Surgery, photo rejuvenation employs variable pulsed light to reduce brown spots and redness exacerbated by the sun’s UV rays. Sieveking Plastic Surgery: Offering Minimally Invasive LipoSelection by VASER, Dr. Nicholas Sieveking
March, 2011
by Dr. Nicholas Sieveking
At Sieveking Plastic Surgery, we offer the latest cosmetic procedures featuring minimally invasive technologies such as LipoSelection by VASER. We are proud to be the first Nashville-area practice offering this revolutionary fat removal treatment, which presents an excellent alternative to full liposuction procedures.
LipoSelection strategically targets only fat cells needing removal, leaving all other connective tissues, blood vessels, and nerves undisturbed. This minimizes impact on the body, significantly reducing recovery time compared with traditional liposuction procedures. The LipoSelection treatment begins with injection of tumescent fluid, a specially formulated saline solution that numbs the target area, shrinking blood vessels. This is followed by extremely small incisions, through which tiny probes are inserted. These probes vibrate at an ultrasonic frequency, shaking fat cells apart and causing them to combine with the tumescent fluid. A gentle suction process next removes the fat-containing fluid from the body. Skin retracts during a healing process, which is often aided by massage therapy, resulting in smooth and natural-looking skin.
With traditional liposuction procedures, entire tissue structures such as blood vessels, nerves, and collagen are removed along with the fat, with often-uneven results and lengthy recovery times. LipoSelection remains distinct from the host of laser-assisted liposuction and lipolysis procedures that have recently been introduced in many cosmetic surgery offices. Unlike LipoSelection, laser-assisted techniques only work on small pockets of fat and can thermally damage important tissues. In addition, tunneling techniques leave skin contour irregularities, with the suctioned fat unusable in subsequent fat transfer procedures. LipoSelection presents a safe alternative to laser-assisted liposuction by targeting only fatty tissue in a way that encourages predictable and problem-free results. To schedule a consultation with Sieveking Plastic Surgery on this non-invasive ultrasound approach to eliminating unwanted fat, visit sievekingplasticsurgery.com or call (615) 321-1010.

Charitable Involvement with the American Red Cross, Dr. Nicholas Sieveking
April, 2011
Dedicated to enabling humanitarian aid around the world, Dr. Nicholas Sieveking supports the efforts of The American National Red Cross. Over the last 130 years, The American National Red Cross has grown into one of the world’s primary emergency response organizations and the main organization of this type in the United States. In addition to its extensive natural disaster crisis relief, The American National Red Cross acts as a neutral third party in wartime in order to bring humanitarian aid to those who have suffered because of the war.
Founded in Washington, D.C., in 1881, The American National Red Cross was created through the vision and initiative of Clara Barton. Already a successful federal official and teacher, Ms. Barton took time away from her professional duties to bring humanitarian aid to victims of the American Civil War. After serving throughout the war, Ms. Barton traveled to Europe in 1869 when her doctors directed her to take a restful vacation. During her stay, she became involved in the International Red Cross’s humanitarian efforts in the Franco-Prussian War. When she returned to the United States, Ms. Barton brought her determination to create The American National Red Cross with her.
Through the many years since its inception, The American National Red Cross has continued Ms. Barton’s dedication and expanded its services in an overall effort to alleviate suffering. It currently runs a number of additional programs, one of which offers educational opportunities to promote public and individual health, as well as public safety. Other programs help develop strong communities or provide noncombat support for military personnel and their families. The American National Red Cross also organizes and provides oversight for the collection and distribution of donated blood and other medical necessities derived from blood. About 4 million people give blood through The American National Red Cross, which makes it the single largest supplier of blood in America.
The American National Red Cross is not a branch of the American government and does not receive government funds. Instead, its financial backing comes from individual and collective donations. Many of its services are also completed by volunteer workers. In order to make this model successful, The American National Red Cross works through nearly 700 different local chapters. These chapters have trained over 15 million people in emergency response strategies, lifesaving techniques, and other practical skills for on-the-ground service. Dr. Sieveking serves as a Board Member with the Nashville Chapter of The American National Red Cross.
