new to bigsight32, Columbus, OhioNick Zalany joined Carpenter Lipps & Leland LLP in July 2006, after obtaining his LL.M. from New York University and working for a New York firm. Since joining the Firm, Nick has worked on a variety of commercial litigation matters, including an arbitration in California, a large consumer class action in Pennsylvania, and litigation for a major finance company. Nick also has been involved in bankruptcy-related litigation, and in appellate drafting. He served as second chair for a bench trial in Cleveland. Nick also has drawn on his intellectual property background (having focused on patent and trademark matters as he obtained his LL.M. in Trade Regulation, and having worked on intellectual property matters for a law firm in Paris, France while in law school) for purposes of matters such as a patent infringement lawsuit brought by a major U.S. manufacturer against an overseas company. Nick is fluent in French, proficient in Hungarian and German, and has a working knowledge of Polish. Between college and law school, he worked for the U.S. Embassy in Budapest, Hungary, and in college, worked for the World Trade Center Cleveland. In his spare time, Nick enjoys playing tennis, and has served as volunteer judge for moot court competitions sponsored by OSU’s Moritz College of Law. Nicholas Zalany's Schools
