Nir Hus MD - Jackson Memorial HospitalPembroke Pines, FloridaPursuing an accomplished career in medicine and biological research, Dr. Nir Hus has served as a respected surgeon and scientist. With an unwavering commitment to the ethical and professional standards of his field, he has gained recognition from colleagues and employers alike. After graduating from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Biology and Marine Science, Dr. Nir Hus commenced a multifaceted career in academic research, medicine, and information technology. As the co-founder of a small firm based in Miami, Advanced Technologies Consulting Group (ATCG), Inc., he directed his company to serve the manifold needs of clients in the health care and biotechnology sectors, with a primary emphasis on the design and implantation of records management systems. In tandem with his responsibilities to ATCG, Dr. Nir Hus began advanced studies at the University of Miami, enrolling in the joint M.D./Ph.D. program at the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. For the next several years, he pursued a rigorous schedule of medical curriculum and various research activities in the areas of bioinformatics, molecular biology, and biochemistry. Among his numerous accomplishments during this period, Dr. Nir Hus conducted research on the gastrointestinal complications of the Miami Pouch, which led to publication in a January 2004 edition of Gynecological Oncology. In addition, he co-developed and won a U.S. patent for his DNA extraction tool, Xcisor; earned a research grant from the American Medical Association; and conducted investigations into cervical cancer, U46 bacterial proteases, breast and gynecologic tumors, and more. Following receipt of his M.D. in May 2005, Nir Hus, Ph.D., successfully defended his dissertation: 1) YhbO and YajL proteases or chaperones, two novel members of the U46 family of bacterial peptidases; and 2) PenP, a novel member of the Small Multidrug Resistant family of proteins. In 2008, Nir Hus, Ph.D., published an article in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, “Challenging current paradigms related to cardiomyopathies,” and received a U.S. provisional patent for non-invasive billiary tree fluoroscopy in real time in vivo. Beginning his general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical center & Miami Heart Institute in Miami Beach in 2005, Dr. Nir Hus would finish this course of clinical training five years later. His most recent clinical training, a one-year fellowship in critical care at the Ryder Trauma Center, ended in June 2011. Nir Hus, Ph.D., lives and works in the greater Miami metropolitan area.
