Oasis of Hope Hospital

With a strong history of patient care and holistic cancer treatment, Oasis of Hope Hospital serves as a constant reminder that the best medicine addresses the patient, rather than just the symptoms. Since 1963, Tijuana, Mexico-based Oasis of Hope Hospital has helped patients with various types of cancer combat their illnesses through a highly multidisciplinary approach of integrated medicine, spiritual counseling, and emotional support, building an impeccable track record in the field of cancer treatment. Under the direction of founder, oncologist, and medical pioneer Dr. Ernesto Contreras, Sr., Oasis of Hope Hospital became one of the most prominent names in holistic cancer therapy, a testament to the center’s equal use of conventional and alternative treatment methods. Through Dr. Contreras’ lifelong exploration of cancer treatment options and dedication to the well-being of his patients, Oasis of Hope Hospital gained a unique reputation for its total cancer treatment care approach, which was later adopted by other professionals in the field. Today, the legacy of Dr. Contreras lives on at Oasis of Hope Hospital under his son, Dr. Francisco Contreras, who oversees the operation of its facilities and services. Over the course of 45-plus years, the physicians at Oasis of Hope Hospital have treated more than 100,000 patients from 55 countries worldwide. Oasis of Hope Hospital is headquartered in Tijuana, Mexico, and maintains a branch location in Irvine, California.

  • Oasis of Hope Hospital on Categories of Cancer
Oasis of Hope Hospital offers cancer patients with the widest range of treatment options available today, supported by cutting-edge research and an experienced staff. Oasis of Hope Hospital has experience in treating patients with every type of cancer. There are hundreds of individual types of cancer, but most fall into five larger categories.

    Sarcoma

When the cancer initially presents itself in the connective tissues of the body, it is classified as a sarcoma. A cancer that grows in the tendons, cartilage, and fat is categorized as a sarcoma. Bone cancer, typically seen in young adults, remains the most common sarcoma.

    Carcinoma

The most common type of cancer, a carcinoma affects the tissue lining of an organ, known as the epithelial layer. The most common types of carcinoma are skin and breast cancer. They most frequently affect the linings of body structures that secrete fluids, such as the mammary glands or sweat glands.

    Leukemia

Cancer of the blood falls into the category of leukemia. This type of cancer can affect both the production of red and white blood cells. As blood is produced by the bone marrow, leukemia originates from the bone marrow, although the cancer spreads through the blood.

    Myeloma

Another type of cancer connected to the bones, myeloma is a cancer of the plasma cells in bone marrow. Unlike leukemia, myeloma often produces tumors in the bones.

    Lymphoma

A cancer that has a gland or lymph node as its original source is known as a lymphoma. Lymphomas are often classified as Hodgkin’s or non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Thomas Hodgkin was the first physician to describe lymphoma and the specific type of the disease he described was named after him. However, over a dozen other types of lymphoma also exist.
