Paris Henman will readily admit to being unable to play a guitar, but her passion and flair for aesthetics has led Henman Guitars to become one of the most respected names in guitar production. As the co-founder of Henman Guitars, Paris Henman comprises one half of the eponymous company’s stellar guitar-crafting duo – the other half is her husband, Graham Henman. A talented fashion designer before she delved into the rock-and-roll realm of guitar design, Paris Henman began her career in London. A true Londoner, Paris Henman thrived in the fast-paced and stylish city. Paris Henman has collaborated with some of the industry’s top photographers, and her work has been featured in ads and editorials for top-tier publications such as Elle, Vogue, and FHM. In search of bigger budgets and better opportunities, Paris Henman hopped across the pond to the United States to bring her unique fashion sense to the land of T-shirts and jeans. After settling in Los Angeles, Paris Henman soon found herself working with many of Hollywood’s elite performers, including Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cameron Diaz. Paris Henman’s unique fashion vision also earned her the chance to work on music videos and commercials. Her career took Paris Henman to Vancouver, where she worked with the legendary Ringo Starr, but it was a fateful meeting with a British director by the name of Graham Henman that rendered the trip life altering. The two eventually married and combined their artistic efforts to form Henman-Bevilacqua, and, mostly recently, Henman Guitars. First at Henman-Bevilacqua and then at Henman Guitars, Paris Henman’s outside-of-the-box thinking has led to some of the guitar industry’s biggest innovations. The Henman Guitars website lists many Paris Henman anecdotes. For example, when the company was aspiring to design the ultimate tuning pegs, Paris Henman sauntered by, swiftly mulled over the difficulties, and said, “Make them round.” The resulting tuning pegs became one of Henman Guitars’ most recognizable features. Paris Henman’s influence is felt in many other Henman Guitars projects. Drawing on her career working with pop culture icons, Paris insisted on making her company’s guitars curvy and sexy, and named each color finish after a Bond girl. Believing that presentation was as important as performance, Paris Henman also asserted that each guitar should have a stylized case that fit its unique look and feel. Paris Henman and her husband worked closely to dream up the image branding, Namm exhibition spaces, and advertising. Lending her big-picture perspective to new guitar designs, Paris Henman is a name synonymous with modernization and an exquisite eye for detail.
