Park West Gallery Auction at Sea

Striving to expose all individuals to the art world, Park West Gallery operates an extensive art auction at sea program, through which cruise ship guests are able to explore galleries first-hand and purchase exquisite works of fine art. With onboard galleries on many major cruise lines, Park West Gallery allows vacationers to interact with the art and speak with professionals about the works offered, including pieces from masters like Picasso and Miro, as well as contemporary artists like Emile Bellet and Alfred Gockel. During the art auction at sea event, attendees are able to experience the excitement and energy of live art auctions while placing bids on their favorite works. Through the Park West Gallery auctions at sea, long-time collectors and those newly introduced to the art world gain access to fine original works, including oil and acrylic paintings, etchings, lithographs, serigraphs, and hand-embellished graphic works. Recently, Park West Gallery hosted Disney artist David Willardson on a Celebrity cruise, granting the auction at sea participants the unique opportunity to meet the artist behind the works up for auction. All works purchased at an auction come complete with a certificate of authenticity, description, and research information. Park West Gallery will ship your purchased art to any country using trusted carriers, such as UPS and FedEx, and also provides world-class customized framing options at competitive prices. Park West Gallery is the vision of Albert Scaglione, who opened his first gallery in 1969. At present, Park West Gallery manages locations in Miami, Florida and Southfield, Michigan in addition to the Park West galleries at sea. Park West Gallery maintains a presence at important international art expositions, as well as many major museum exhibitions. Park West Gallery also offers original works to collectors and other interested parties through land auctions held throughout North America.

  • Southfield, Michigan
By: Park West Gallery Auction at Sea

The City of Southfield remains a commercial and recreational locus of southeast Michigan. A major suburb within the greater Detroit metropolitan area, Southfield (www.cityofsouthfield.com) maintains its status as “the center of it all.” The city’s official name likely derives from Southfield’s setting among the “south fields” of the Bloomington Township.

A variety of Native American tribes initially inhabited the area surrounding today’s Southfield. Local French trade subsequently resulted in the construction of Detroit-area Fort Pontchartrain in the early part of the 18th century, and American settlers were subdividing the area into townships and counties by 1817. What would eventually become the City of Southfield was originally deemed the Ossewa Township in 1830, just seven years prior to Michigan’s official inclusion as the 26th state in the Union. Local citizens successfully lobbied the State of Michigan to change Southfield’s name shortly thereafter.

Today, the City of Springfield remains a vibrant, growing community in which to live and work. Commanding a thriving commercial sector, Springfield boasts a daytime population of almost 175,000. Additionally, 20 excellent hotels and various accommodation facilities make Southfield an attractive nexus for meetings, conferences, and conventions. Springfield acts as a significant cultural locus, hosting the Park West Gallery, an historical museum, and a world-class array of cultural programs sponsored though the impressive Millennium Centre. Operating from Southfield’s Cornerstone District, the Millennium Centre remains the Detroit metropolitan area’s foremost conference and entertainment location.

Southfield makes an ideal place in which to live and raise a family. The city’s nationally recognized educational system includes 10 universities and colleges, exceptional public institutions, and a variety of private schools. Springfield’s extensive recreational facilities boast tennis and volleyball courts, an ice and sports arena, and an open-air pool, where children can engage in swimming lessons. In addition to two public golf courses, Springfield offers more than 700 acres of lush parks and over 30 miles of natural hiking and cycling trails. For those less interested in the outdoors, Southfield houses the busiest cinema complex across the nation, with the Star Southfield Entertainment Centre boasting a remarkable 20 theaters and a seating capacity of more than 6,000 people.
