Human rights legal expert Pearl Eliadis has advised institutions and governments globally, including in Canada, China, Iraq, Rwanda, Kenya, and Nepal. Eliadis has been retained by The European Commission, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, international consortia, nongovernmental organizations and the United Nations. She currently serves as Principal of the Law Office of Pearl Eliadis in Montreal, focusing on human rights, national institutions, democratic governance, and international law.

Experienced in the politics of emerging democracies, post-conflict nations, developing countries, and institution building, Pearl Eliadis possesses expertise in such areas as national security and human rights as well as women’s, civil, political, economic, cultural, and minority rights. Other areas of specialized knowledge include legislative drafting, as well as immigration, refugee, equality, and anti-discrimination law and disability issues. Eliadis writes and lectures about human rights and democracy in Canada and globally.

Pearl Eliadis has penned numerous articles on human rights issues, and was lead author for Equality for Women: A Handbook for National Human Rights Institutions on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights. Eliadis also co-wrote the UN Country Team Toolkit on National Human Rights Institutions and Framework for Documenting Equality Rights. In addition, Pearl Eliadis has co-edited several publications, including International Human Rights Law: Theory and Practice; and Evaluation: Seeking Truth or Power?

Admitted to the Bars of Ontario and Quebec, Pearl Eliadis has appeared before Superior, Appeal, and Federal Courts in Canada. A member of the Board of Directors of The Equality Effect and Shield of Athena Family Services, she also sits on the Honorary Board of Directors of Equitas – International Centre for Human Rights Education and the Steering Committee of the International Symposium on Interculturalism.
