Pedro Cuperman holds a position as an Associate Professor of Literary Theory in the Department of Language, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. Pedro Cuperman has built an academic career of great distinction, beginning with his studies at the University of Buenos Aires, where his graduate thesis, “The Problem of Evil in the Philosophy of Martin Buber,” received a label of “high distinction.” After graduating from the University of Buenos Aires, Pedro Cuperman received three awards that enabled him to conduct postgraduate research in India. These awards were the Government of India Fellowship, the Argentine Presidential Grant, and the University of Buenos Aires Scholarship. Pedro Cuperman carried on his research as a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Philosophy at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, for two years. Upon completion of his fellowship in India, Pedro Cuperman served as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Politics at The City College of New York, then as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Connecticut. Mr. Cuperman then obtained a dual appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Department of Politics at New York University (NYU). While teaching at NYU, Pedro Cuperman also served as a Senior Fellow at the university’s Center for International Studies. Prior to joining the Department of Language, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University, Pedro Cuperman spent several years as a Lecturer on Theory at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. Pedro Cuperman also served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Buenos Aires. In addition to his teaching and academic research, Pedro Cuperman is an influential editor. Mr. Cuperman founded and edited the journal Point of Contact: A Publication on the Verbal and Visual Arts, which metamorphosed into a book series published at Syracuse University. Mr. Cuperman edits the volumes of this series. Pedro Cuperman also acts as the Director and Curator of the Point of Contact Gallery at Syracuse University, and he is the co-founder and Associate Director of the Syracuse International Film Festival.
