The BMA B2 Awards, Pete Kovac
December, 2010
by Pete Kovac
Each year, the Business Marketing Association (BMA) holds a ceremony to recognize the country’s top marketing communications firms called the B2 Awards. During the 2010 B2 Awards, which took place this past June in Chicago during the BMA National Conference, the Nicholson Kovac firm garnered significant recognition for its superior level of work. Formerly known as the Pro-Comm Awards, the B2 Awards bestows prizes for innovation in global branding strategy, customer marketing strategy, e-business strategy, new media strategy, internal and external marketing communications strategy, and new product introduction strategy. This year, Nicholson Kovac won a Group Category award for Web & Video for its “Think in Rows Anthem” video, part of a comprehensive Think in Rows marketing campaign engineered for Kinze Manufacturing. The campaign called for a several multimedia angles that would accurately convey the Kinze philosophy through applicable and accessible elements. Nicholson Kovac worked closely with Kinze to forge a thorough strategy that both the firm and the manufacturer found engaging, and their collaboration greatly benefited the entire campaign. “Think in Rows Anthem” also won Best of Category in Video Production, which qualified the video to take the Group Category prize among more than 20 other Best of Category winners. In addition to these two awards, the BMA honored Nicholson Kovac with an Award for Excellence for the Flu Detection Banner Ad Campaign that it devised for 3M Media Diagnostics. These awards are truly notable among B-to-B professionals since they represent the opinions of Nicholson Kovac’s peers as well as the business professionals at BMA.

U.S. Grains Council, Pete Kovac
December, 2010
by Pete Kovac
For the past three decades, I have been involved in high-profile marketing and advertising as President and CEO of Nicholson Kovac, Inc. Based in Kansas City, our company has longstanding relations with agribusiness and the National Agri-Marketing Association. Over the years we have served many clients in the agribusiness sector including the U.S. Grains Council.
Founded in 1960, the council dedicates its efforts to establishing and expanding international markets in corn, grain sorghum, barley, and associated products. In addition to its Washington, D.C., headquarters, the council maintains 10 international offices managing programs in more than 50 countries. Office locations include Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, Cairo, Mexico City, and Panama City.
All programs the council sponsors are tailored to the individual needs of specific countries and cultures, and educational programs enable poultry and livestock producers to fine-tune their operational management and grain-feeding techniques. Council trade-servicing initiatives provide financing options for purchasing feed, as well as U.S. marketing system education. Council trade policy initiatives identify and eliminate market-access barriers that hamper U.S. feed grain exports.
The council is highly active in Washington, D.C., as an advocate of trade policies that recognize the interdependence of nations; support productive international trade negotiations that minimize trade restrictions; and continue support for development projects. Believing that agricultural biotechnology plays an important role in modern feed grain production, the council opposes foreign trade policies that discriminate against genetically modified foods. The council is highly supportive of the U.S. administration’s recent free trade agreement with South Korea, which will create significant new U.S. agricultural export opportunities.
