About Peter EspigVancouver, CanadaFor the past 20 years, Peter Espig has spent his career working with a variety of international interests. Peter Espig grew up in Canada and earned his Bachelor of Arts at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver. After college, he moved to Asia to start his first company, Mandalay Japan. After running this company throughout the 1990s, he entered Columbia Business School’s Master of Business Administration program in 2000. In 2003, Peter Espig authored the report “The Demise of a Banking Dinosaur: Long-Term Credit Bank,” as part of his MBA studies. After completing graduate school, Peter Espig joined Shinsei Bank Ltd., where he advised on many high-value investments. In 2004, Peter Espig began a tenure with Olympus Capital Holdings Asia. This position allowed him to work with a transnational East Asian manufacturing concern. He next leveraged his international skills as a Vice President for Goldman Sachs Japan’s Principal Finance and Securitization Group and for the firm’s Asia Special Situations Group. In August 2006, he accepted his current role with Advance Capital, where he advises clients in Tokyo, Singapore, and Vancouver. Deals that Peter Espig has helped facilitate include a purchase of oil rigs and $500 million in investments from American hedge funds. In total, he has taken part in structuring nearly $3 billion in private transactions. Peter Espig has enjoyed a variety of honors throughout his career. The Yamanashi Government and Fire Department granted him a Medal of Bravery. As a member of the Japanese Commercial Football League, he won the Most Valuable Player honor twice. At the National Winter Games, he represented the Yamanashi Prefecture. As a business student, Peter Espig was nominated for a Columbia Fellowship on the basis of merit. He also received a Chazen Society Fellowship, .
