About Phil Koczwara

From January 2000 to April 2008, Phil Koczwara coached the Alpine Meadow Freestyle Ski Team, where he specialized in mogul skiing and freeride events. Phil Koczwara earned notoriety for creating the “Philthy Roll” and coached Olympic aerial skier Scotty Bahrke.

In addition to his coaching career, Phil Koczwara served as a Senior Account Manager for Johnson & Johnson, as well as a Specialty Account Manager for OraPharma.
Educated at the University of Nevada, Reno, Phil Koczwara holds a B.S. in Education.

    Coaching Team members ranging in age from 9 to 25. Specializing in mogulskiing and freeride events. Events included moguls, halfpipe, aerials, big air, and slopestyle Worked with Olympic Silver medalist Shannon Bahrke. Coached Olympic aerial skier Scott Bahrke(he competed in Vancover in 2010). Coached World Cup half pipe skier David Wise None for creating the Philthy roll. A highly technical off axis front flip that originated in the wind lips at Alpine Meadows. Perfected by the rest of the young guns on the Alpine Meadows freestyle Team, namely Austin and Andre Simonpietri Coach under the late Clay Beck Former member of the Squaw Valley Ski Team.
