An industry leader for over 60 years, Puronics, Incorporated provides many of the water filtration systems used by discerning businesses, restaurants, and consumers. Puronics operates out of Livermore, California, and its products are available internationally through a network of distributors. Puronics was founded in 1947 as Ionics, Incorporated, a manufacturer of filtration and separation solutions for wastewater treatment and ultra-purification applications. With operations in 62 countries, Puronics’ predecessor was the world’s leading supplier of water desalination equipment until it was purchased by GE Infrastructure Water and Process Technologies in 2005. Subsequently, GE spun off Ionics’ consumer water group, leading to the creation of Puronics. Maintaining an extensive product line, Puronics provides water softeners and conditioners, as well as a broad spectrum of water treatment systems. Using the latest technological advances, Puronics strives to create innovative products that offer an unsurpassed level of quality at an affordable price. Water treated through a Puronics system can contribute to improved skin health, increased lifespan for clothes, and a reduction in lime scale buildup in pipes and on appliances, in addition to providing better-tasting water for drinking and cooking. Puronics systems are also sanitary and designed to address every aspect of the water-delivery system, ensuring that bacteria are not allowed the opportunity to develop. To maintain the highest customer satisfaction, Puronics offers its consumer products exclusively through full-service dealers. Educated in all aspects of Puronics systems, these dealers evaluate a customer’s water filtration needs in order to choose the ideal system for each customer. Puronics dealers are also present for installation and service calls. A Puronics dealer can be found by contacting the company via its website or by phone. The Benefits of Soft Water, Puronics
January, 2011
For many people around the world, clean water is considered a luxury. For some, clean water may only be achievable with a high mineral content, creating hard water, a form of H20 that is damaging on pipes and may adversely affect cleaning, laundry, and the environment. That’s why at Puronics, our engineers strive every day to create affordable filtration systems for home and office use, providing greater access to pure water, free of chemical compounds or harmful contaminants.
According to university studies, the use of soft water may cut cleaning time down and extend the life of clothing. Researchers at The Ohio State University (OSU) conducted an analysis of soft versus hard water and determined that the minerals in hard water, when combined with household cleaners and soaps, create impurities, making the cleaning products less effective. The same OSU study showed that soft water reduces time spent cleaning by 50 percent because of better interaction between mineral-free water and cleaners. Additionally, using soft water results in fewer soap scum streaks.
At Purdue University, scientists found that soft water actually makes clothing last longer by an estimated 15 percent. Other research concludes that cleaning one’s body with soft water results in softer skin and silkier hair. Hard water molecules are known for buildups and corrosion of plumbing and hot water heaters, as well. All of the factors above affect both the environment and the economy. For instance, more effective detergents and soaps mean a decreased need for the cleaners, which results in less of the substances going down the sink and ultimately into the ground. Stronger suds last longer, allowing consumers to save money on home and beauty cleaning supplies. Lastly, replacing water handlers and hot water tanks adds up quickly.
