An innovative medical professional with a specialty in ophthalmology, Dr. Randal Pham has been performing eye and facial surgeries for nearly 20 years. As the Medical Director of the Aesthetic & Refractive Surgery Medical Center, Dr. Randal Pham utilizes his unique experiences to change the lives of thousands of people suffering from eye problems. Dr. Randal Pham spearheaded the development of a new type of implant, MEDPOR Petite Nasal Dorsum Implant, which serves as an alternative to grafts for nasal augmentation. Additionally, Dr. Randal Pham integrates new surgical techniques, such as the ReSTOR intraocular lens implant and a laser aesthetic surgery utilizing simultaneous combined wavelengths, into his work. Dr. Randal Pham is particularly well known for his groundbreaking cataract surgery procedure utilizing the “Pham Hook.” Designed by Dr. Randal Pham, the Pham Hook is used to rotate cataracts, making them easier to remove. Dr. Randal Pham began his formal education at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), where he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. A dedicated student, Dr. Randal Pham was a member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honors society. Upon graduation from UCB, Dr. Randal Pham became the first Vietnamese American undergrad from UCB to be accepted to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. Dr. Randal Pham graduated from UCSF in the top 25% of his class. Over the course of his professional career, Dr. Randal Pham has consistently been recognized for his contributions to the medical community. San Jose Magazine named Dr. Randal Pham one of Silicon Valley’s Top Docs in 2006. Additionally, Dr. Randal Pham was singled out as America’s Top Ophthalmologist, Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Subspecialty by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. Dr. Randal Pham was also the recipient of the Best Clinical Science Award from the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. In 2008, Dr. Pham received the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his teaching of aesthetic laser surgery. A year later, Dr. Randal Pham was selected to be Course Director of the Joint American Academy of Ophthalmology/American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Skill Transfer Course, “Aesthetic Practice with New Technologies.” Most recently, NBC/Comcast Doctors Improving Healthcare named Dr. Randal Pham one of 2010’s Best Doctors in the Bay. When he is not working, Dr. Randal Pham can be found giving back to the community through his membership with the Vietnamese Voluntary Foundation (VIVO). Dr. Randal Pham currently resides in San Jose, California.
