About Ray LandRay Land is a retired law enforcement officer who previously supervised the Ocean City Police Mounted Unit. Patrolling the Ocean City Boardwalk and beach, Ray Land had the ability to access every part of the Boardwalk to perform his duties in the most effective way possible. In a place like the Boardwalk, mounted police officers can reach the many restaurants, hotels, arcades, and other businesses that are not accessible to cars or motorcycles. Situations involving large crowds make the high vantage point and prompt response time of mounted patrol officers especially valuable. During Ray Land’s supervision, his patrol made approximately 2,000 arrests over the course of his career. In the same period, Ray Land also made about 500 arrests by himself. Stories about some of Ray Land’s most notable cases were published in local newspapers. For example, Ray Land caught a man who attempted to abduct a three-year-old boy from his parents on the Ocean Beach Boardwalk. In another case, Ray Land arrested two men who had stopped their cars on the coastal highway to engage in a fight. On yet another occasion, Ray Land apprehended a man for indecent exposure and disorderly conduct after the man behaved in a lewd manner and screamed obscenities to other people on the boardwalk. A retired professional, Ray Land earned a degree in criminology from Western Maryland College. He also graduated from the First Line Supervisors Training School of the Eastern Criminal Justice Academy in Maryland in 2007. Ray Land was part of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) a membership organization that represents the interests of law enforcement officers around the United States. Ray Land's Schools
