An experienced portfolio manager for private and offshore funds, Reema Shah joined Columbia Seligman in 2000.Menlo Park, CaliforniaAfter graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Psychology, Reema Shah became an Investment Associate in Equity Research at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC. She worked with the renowned David Togut, a Senior Technology Analyst ranked number one in Institutional Investor magazine. One year later, in 1998, Reema Shah returned to school, earning an M.B.A. at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Immediately after completing her graduate degree, she joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation, based in New York, as Vice President and Sell-Side Research Analyst. Both her employment and education prepared Reema Shah for her lengthy and successful career at Columbia Seligman. Joining Seligman in Boston in 2000 as a Vice President and Sell-Side Analyst, she conferred with investment bankers on industry dynamics, analyzed financial reports, authored research papers, created financial models, and launched computer-services stock. Subsequently, as part of the Seligman Technology Team and RiverSource Investments in Silicon Valley, Reema Shah co-managed the Seligman Communications and Information Portfolio. Seligman established the Communications and Information Fund, Inc., in 1983, and it became one of the few pioneering mutual funds to capitalize on the growth in the emerging technology sector. Reema Shah also provided management services for other offshore and private funds with short- and long-term strategies. In addition to her tenure at Seligman and other financial-services firms, Reema Shah fulfilled a summer internship at Fayez Sarofim & Co., based in Houston. In this capacity, she interviewed sell-side analysts, built financial models, and researched the competitive landscape and public offerings. At the end of the summer, Reema Shah compiled a detailed report, recommending two companies to the investment company, a valuable experience for her career at Seligman. While fulfilling her professional duties at Seligman, Reema Shah found time to support a number of charitable organizations, including Ronald McDonald House Charities, Room to Read, the March of Dimes Foundation, and the San Francisco Food Bank. In other service, she has acted as Group Leader of the Ravenswood Education Foundation, as a classroom volunteer, and as a coordinator of events at Sacred Heart Schools in the Bay Area. Reema Shah also supports Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, Stanford Hospital & Clinics, and the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, as well as breast cancer research.
