Richard Harroch is a venture capitalist, author, and attorney who currently serves as Managing Director & Global Head of M&A with VantagePoint Venture Partners, one of the largest venture capital funds in the United States. Mr. Harroch earned his B.A. from UC Berkeley, where he triple majored in Political Science, Economics, and Psychology. Mr. Harroch continued his education at UCLA, graduating with his Juris Doctor and serving as Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review. Mr. Harroch spent over two decades with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he assisted hundreds of transactions with private financiers and venture capitalists in his role as corporate lawyer and firm Partner. During his time with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, Mr. Harroch also participated in over 100 merger and acquisition transactions. Mr. Harroch holds extensive entrepreneurial experience. Mr. Harroch founded LawCommerce, Inc. and co-founded AllBusiness.com, Inc., and he led both companies into successful acquisitions. Mr. Harroch’s current work with VantagePoint involves participation in a variety of Internet and technology investments and transactions. He has extensive experience in online advertising, media and e-commerce, as well as SEM, SEO and Internet content license agreements. In his position as Managing Director, Mr. Harroch also aids portfolio companies in negotiations of numerous Internet-related partnerships and joint ventures. Mr. Harroch’s legal and business career is augmented with an extensive library of published work. Harroch has crafted books and articles on a wide variety of issues ranging from start-up businesses, to Internet transactions, to poker. Harroch received praise for both his business writing (landing on the “Wall Street Journal Best Selling Business Books” list) and “Poker for Dummies,” a poker guide published that is part of the popular “Dummies” series of books.
