new to bigsight53Opportunity is given to the person prepared for it. That could well be the motto of Rich Micali. After Richard Micali graduated from Bowling Green State University, near Toledo, he later went on to earn his MBA from John Carroll University in Cleveland. He started in the pharmaceutical industry with Mead Johnson Pharmaceuticals, in Cleveland, a division of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. He started as a medical sales representative and immediately began creating opportunities for himself and others. Taking over a poor performing territory, he turned it into one of the most successful in the district, winning awards while doing so. This earned him a position running workshops and seminars on sales tactics and product knowledge. Micali’s opportunities brought him to areas of increased responsibility in sales management, marketing, and managed care. He also became involved with initiatives focusing on disease management, health economic research, and electronic medical records. In 1997 Richard Micali became the Senior Director for Infectious Disease Marketing at Bristol-Myers Squibb in New Jersey, where he was charged with leading a marketing team responsible for a portfolio of products that spanned across a variety of lifecycle stages. Key areas of focus for Rich were short and long term strategic brand planning, sales growth, increasing profitability, and developing people. Rich Micali then took on the role of Vice President of Sales, Westwood Squibb Division and from there several other sales leadership roles. As Region Vice President Sales, U.S. Primary Care, he led his region to #1 in the nation. Most recently, he was Vice President Sales for the Oncology Division, U.S. Pharmaceuticals Division. Throughout his career, Rich Micali has been involved with several successful product launches. He established and executed a multi-customer channel antibiotic launch plan resulting in leading the nation in new prescription share and successfully launched a key oncology product. The challenges and opportunities are, in Rich’s life, balanced. He’s on the boards of trustees for Mercer Street Friends, an organization dedicated to the needs of the underprivileged in his community. Richard Micali's Schools
