Construction and Sales Manager at TKL Home Designs

Reno, Nevada

Stationed for four months in Antarctica as a commercial diver for the United States Antarctic Program (USAP), Richard Von Alvensleben helped install a saltwater conversion machine to deliver desalinated drinking water for 2,000. The mission of the USAP is to grow global and regional research in and for Antarctica. Three on-site research stations help enable the region’s inhabitants to participate in technological advancements on the continent.

Next, Richard Von Alvensleben moved to the construction industry, founding and co-owning Associated Drilling in Northern California. The firm was concerned with drilling for caissons and other structural foundations in the Bay Area. In his oversight role, Mr. Alvensleben was responsible for all details of Associated Drilling’s operations, from maintenance to crew management.

In 2005, Richard Von Alvensleben’s company, World Concepts LLC, saw $200 million in sales, enough to earn it a place on the Inc. magazine list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in the United States. Mr. Alvensleben was responsible for half of that revenue on his own. Richard Von Alvensleben served as a representative to National Safety Associates, grew a nationwide sales force, and managed all facets of sales.

TKL Home Designs LLC hired Richard Von Alvensleben as Construction and Sales Manager in 2002. A real estate investment corporation, TKL concerns itself with the purchase and sale of properties identified as distressed. Among Alvensleben’s top accomplishments are the management of a $40 million real estate fund and the development of a $6 million rental fund. In 2008, its best year, the firm bought and sold in excess of 450 homes.

Richard Von Alvensleben earned a degree in marine technology from Santa Barbara City College. The program is the only one of its kind in the United States to be accredited by the Association of Commercial Diving Educators (ACDE), the International Diving School Association (IDSA), and the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI). Mr. Alvensleben’s favorite hobbies include fishing, golf, and hiking. He enjoys spending time with his family in the mountains of Northern California.

  • Snowmobiling in Placer County, California , By Richard Von Alvensleben
    May, 2012
The winter months bring abundant snow to the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Placer County, where I reside and run my business. My family enjoys snowmobiling, and Placer County offers many venues for this activity. Here are some suggestions:

    • Located 3 miles south of Tahoe City, Blackwood Canyon is a good choice for intermediate and advanced snowmobilers who bring their own equipment. This site contains many roads across a large, open area with steep bowls.

    • China Wall, 14 miles east of Foresthill, boasts miles of multiuse snow trails, where snowmobilers share space with cross-country skiers and snowshoers.

    • Full Throttle Tahoe at Kings Beach provides equipment and gear to riders of all levels of expertise. Riders see lovely meadows and magnificent views across 13,000 acres of well-groomed trails. A trailer service transports snowmobilers to outlying areas.

    • Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours in Kings Beach provide tours over 100 miles of trails that take riders through pristine forests with breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe.
