Richard W. Bank MD, 67, began his career as a physician more than three decades ago.

Over the last three decades, Richard W. Bank, MD, attained considerable achievement as a biotechnology investment consultant, thanks to his experience as a physician. Since the mid-90s, he has worked with a number of entities. In 1995, Dr. Richard W. Bank founded First-Tier Biotechnology Partners, L.P., a hedge fund focused on the life sciences for which he served as the President, Portfolio Manager, and Managing Director until its assimilation by Lehman Brothers in 2004.

Simultaneously, he functioned as the President and Secretary of BioVest Health Sciences, Inc., and spent two years as a Senior Equity Analyst and Director of Biotechnology at SBC Warburg Dillon Read (later part of UBS AG). From 2004 to 2006, Richard W. Bank, MD, functioned as the Senior Portfolio Manager, Senior Vice President, and Managing Director for another Lehman Brothers company, Liberty View Capital Management’s Liberty View Health Sciences Fund. He is presently the President of BioVest Advisors LLC.

Richard W. Bank, MD, earned his Bachelor of Science from Washington and Lee University, followed by his medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago, where was the recipient of a research fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. He then interned at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by residencies at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and The Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore.

After completing his medical training, Richard W. Bank, MD, went on to become the Senior Attending Physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, a position he held until 1995. Dr. Richard Bank also served as the Chief of Gynecology at Century City Hospital and the Beverly Hills Medical Center. In the summer of 1981, he started functioning as the Medical Commissioner for the Games of the XXIII Olympiad held in Los Angeles.

Richard W. Bank, MD, is a Clinical Professor Emeritus at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, where he teaches in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Bank regularly attends conferences held by the American Society of Clinical Oncology, The American Heart Association, the American College of Radiology, and other healthcare organizations. He has also been present at every major HIV/AIDS conference held over the past 12 years.
