A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Robert Briley began his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1991. Following graduation, Robert Briley served Knoxville’s Midway Rehabilitation Center as a Counselor and Program Director for its juvenile corrections rehabilitation center until 1994. Soon after, Robert Briley started attending Vanderbilt University Law School, receiving a Juris Doctor in 1997. While in law school, Robert Briley was an Intern for a criminal court judge, the Honorable Thomas H. Shriver and a Law Clerk for Nashville’s Department of Law, aiding the government in writing legal memoranda on government administrative issues and its lawyers in civil litigation. After finishing law school, Robert Briley obtained another clerkship, assisting the Honorable Thomas W. Brothers in trial procedure and civil litigation, from 1997 until 1998. The 52nd Legislative District elected Robert Briley as a Representative for the Tennessee General Assembly in 1998; he would hold this position for 10 years and serve in leadership roles, like Majority Floor Leader. While serving his constituents, Robert Briley held Associate Attorney positions at North, Pursell, Ramos & Jameson, P.L.C., and Lassiter, Tidwell & Hildebrand, PLLC. Becoming Partner at The Law Office of J. Houston Gordon in October 2002 enabled Robert Briley to handle clients in civil litigation matters such as medical malpractice and automobile liability. In 2004, Robert Briley founded The Briley Law Group PLLC. The firm lasted until 2007 when he created The Law Office of Robert W. Briley and served as Owner. Today, Robert Briley functions as the Managing Partner of the Nashville office of Shuttleworth Williams, PLLC, devoting his career to civil litigation, in addition to supervising three other attorneys and an administrative staff. Apart from his career, Robert Briley contributes to Tennessee History for Kids and the Community Rehabilitation Agencies of Tennessee. His hobbies include sports cars and auto racing.
