Robert was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he attended the Nova schools for 12 years. In college, at Brown University, he concentrated in Africana Studies and Gender & Sexuality Studies. At Brown, he was also an active member of the Third World and LGBTQ communities, taking on leadership roles in the Third World Center, the Queer Alliance, the Queer Political Action Committee, and The Agenda, Brown’s only journal of queer politics and culture.
