A well-regarded executive, Ron Mathieu developed his passion for aviation while growing up. Prior to his professional pursuits, he attended the Florida Institute of Technology to study aviation management. Mr. Mathieu also served in various other operational and supervisory positions in New York and New Jersey during that period. Possessing expert aviation skills and administrative aptitude, Ron Mathieu earned senior staff positions. In 2003, Ron Mathieu became Director of Operations at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Mr. Mathieu assumed the role only a year after the World Trade Center attacks. He vowed to focus on the safety and security of the airport as a top priority. In addition to overseeing security measures, he ensured that the airport remained ready in the event of natural threats. During his tenure, he created and implemented a new hurricane emergency-response plan. At the airport, he supervised all personnel, both landside and airside. Possessing fiscal responsibilities, he managed a $40 million expense budget. Besides his obligations at the airport, he also oversees operations at the North Perry General Aviation Airport. At present, Ron Mathieu leverages his experience to his current role as Executive Director of Aviation at Little Rock National Airport in Arkansas. The airport possesses a 91 percent containment level, due to its centralized location. The facility serves more than 2.4 million passengers each year. Ron Mathieu applies his expertise to maintain the airport’s financial stability. Arkansas counts on the Little Rock National Airport to stimulate the economy by creating jobs, generating large budget projects, and contributing to industrial growth. Consequently, he aims to make careful and well-informed decisions, as well as to maintain an optimal level of performance in all areas of the operation. Shortly after Ron Mathieu became Executive Director, the Airport Municipal Commission in Little Rock approved a plan for a complete overhaul of the airport’s terminal. The plan includes several major renovations slated for implementation in a series of phases over a 15-year period. Ron Mathieu’s supervisory duties also extend to construction project management. In his free time, Ron Mathieu enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family. Mr. Mathieu also finds fulfillment in giving back to the community and actively contributes to worthy causes such as the American Red Cross and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
