With 22 years of experience in the helicopter replacement parts industry, President Wes Harrington rose from the bottom rungs at Rotair Industries, Inc. to prove himself a uniquely capable executive and market player. Wesley Harrington graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Troy, New York’s Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1982. His work at Rotair Industries began with familiarizing himself with the technical components of the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk, after which he wrote complete engineering proposals submitted to and approved by U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM). These proposals were so comprehensive that AMCOM selected them as exemplars for other prospective applicants. With Black Hawk component orders surging in to Rotair Industries, the company began to finetune its production process to handle the complex, high-volume work of supplying the U.S. Army’s vast supply of cutting-edge aircraft. AMCOM eventually chose Rotair Industries to participate in the maintenance and overhaul of its Black Hawk fleet, involving thousands of helicopter assets, more than 60,000 component parts, and 56,00 forms. Wes Harrington once again fulfilled and exceeded expectations, leading the development of an automated tracking system that was eventually adopted by the U.S. Army to eliminate data errors and reduce the manpower necessary to process its paperwork. With these successes under its belt, the real test for Rotair Industries came during Operation Desert Storm, when the U.S. Army deployed thousands of helicopters. Because of its established working relationships with Wes Harrington, the U.S. Army turned to him as its point of contact for delivery of critically needed Black Hawk components. Wes Harrington and his team at Rotair Industries worked with various military organizations to expedite contracts not just from Rotair, but from other contractors as well. Rotair Industries was one of 54, among 4,948 eligible, to receive the U.S. Defense Contract Management Agency’s District Award for its outstanding work during Operation Desert Storm. The U.S. DOD now relies on Rotair Industries to supply components not only for the Black Hawk, but for all Sikorsky H-60 Series helicopters, including the HH-60G Pave Hawk, SH-60 Seahawk, VH-60 Nighthawk, and specially modified Special Operations H-60s.
