Sam Gyimah was first born in the United Kingdom before living in Ghana. Over time, Gyimah would return to the UK at the age of 16, where he would eventually attend Oxford University. At Oxford, he read PPE and was the President of the Oxford Union in 1997.

After college, Sam Gyimah would begin his career at the major US investment bank, Goldman Sachs. There, Gyimah worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Equities Divisions and took part in some of the largest mergers in the UK, such as the £100 billion merger of Glaxo Welcome and Smithkline Beecham.

At the age of 26, Gyimah left Goldman Sachs and convinced some of his overseers to support the first venture that he co-found. Gyimah’s business endeavour grew to 70 staff members and had a turnover of £10 million in three years. Following his success, it was no surprise that Sam Gyimah won the 2005 CBI’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Future’ award.

In 2006, Sam Gyimah commenced work on his second business, Workology.com, an online community dedicated to professionals who want to fully manage their working life. Gyimah’s second business went live in March 2008 and is supported by a number of associates from Goldman, some of who also backed the online betting exchange, Betfair.

Before his success in business, Sam Gyimah was a Governor of an inner London comprehensive, on the Board of Nacro, a Housing Association, and is presently on the Development Board for Somerville College, Oxford. Furthermore, Gyimah was also once the Chairman of the prominent think tank, the Bow Group, and editor of ‘From the ashes…’ a Methuen-published anthology of essays focusing on the future of the Conservative Party.

Outside of his professional work, Gyimah has been known to be an avid fan of the Arsenal Football Club. Moreover, he has also been known as cooking enthusiast and an avid runner.
