University of Wisconsin-Madison alumna Samantha Allweiss dedicated her undergraduate experience to social welfare, both in the classroom and in the larger community.Northbrook, IllinoisA recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Samantha Allweiss earned her Bachelor of Arts with a double Major in Social Welfare and Gender and Women’s Studies. A diligent student, Samantha Allweiss made the Dean’s List four times and participated in a student leadership program. A horseback rider, Samantha Allweiss joined the Equestrian Team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison when she commenced her studies at the institution, and she participated in the program for three years. Two years into her collegiate experience, Samantha Allweiss became the Social Chair of the university’s Equestrian Team, raising funds and organizing the end of year team banquet. As Social Chair, Samantha Allweiss represented the team in competitions. Throughout her academic years, Samantha Allweiss remained an involved member of her community. Samantha Allweiss served as an English and Social Studies Tutor at Georgia O’Keeffe Middle School in Madison, Wisconsin, helping a student with learning disabilities complete schoolwork and strengthen reading and writing skills in and out of the classroom. Samantha Allweiss also spent a portion of her undergraduate years working as an Administrative Assistant for Domestic Abuse Intervention Services in Madison, where she fulfilled clerical duties and helped input patient records into the database system. After departing from Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, Samantha Allweiss pursued other community service outlets, working with Story in the Bag as a Marketing and Promotional Volunteer. Samantha Allweiss sold fair trade canvas tote bags to generate funding for the non-profit organization and informed the public of the organization’s mission. Additionally, Samantha Allweiss acted as a Community Outreach and Development Intern for the Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, increasing community awareness and coordinating local events. Most recently, Samantha Allweiss worked for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Campus Women’s Center. Functioning as the Support Group Facilitator for women with depression and anxiety, Samantha Allweiss led a weekly discussion group, fostering a confidential and safe atmosphere for individuals in need.
