A respected physiatrist and pain specialist, Dr. Samuel Theagene draws on more than 20 years of experience in medicine. Dr. Theagene currently serves as Medical Director of Empire State Pain & Neuro P.C. of New York, with locations in Brentwood and Medford. Dr. Samuel Theagene studied at Queens College in New York, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology before undertaking his medical studies. He then enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico, where he graduated with his medical degree in 1989. Dr. Theagene subsequently completed an internship at the Presbyterian Medical Center of Philadelphia, then a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the State University of New York Health Science Center Kings County Hospital. Since completing his studies, Dr. Samuel Theagene has worked as a clinician, surgeon, and health care administrator. He held an assistant professorship at the State University of New York in the mid 1990s before going on to work with rehabilitation centers across the country. He first worked at the Pain Management and Spine Care International Neurosurgical Clinic of San Antonio, where he saw both inpatients and outpatients for pain management, electrodiagnostics, and other procedures. Dr. Theagene also served as an expert witness in workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. In 1995, Dr. Samuel Theagene co-founded the Pain and Neuromuscular Clinic of Texas, with locations in the San Antonio area and Greater Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Serving as Medical Director, Dr. Theagene provided outpatient services in conjunction with major hospitals in the region. His clinic also received Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Buprenophine certification. Dr. Samuel Theagene co-founded the Empire State Pain and Neuro P.C. of New York in 2010, employing the latest in medical technology to provide patients with interventional spine treatments. He holds membership in the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation (PASSOR). Dr. Theagene is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (FAADEP).
