Scott
Leese

Vice President of Sales, Main Street Hub

Santa Rosa, California

After earning Bachelor’s degree from the Dominican University of California and a Master’s degree from Arizona State University, Scott Leese obtained employment at Reply!, Inc., in San Ramon, California. Starting as a Senior National Sales Executive, Leese quickly established himself as the company’s top sales representative and won its Employee of the Year Award. Less than a year later, Leese accepted a promotion to Sales Manager for the targeted website advertising business. In just one year in this role, Scott Leese more than doubled his sales team and expanded its productivity by 300 percent. Along with improving products and training new team members, he also became a top lead generator by finding small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in the real estate field, who could benefit from Reply!, Inc.’s promotional services.

When Leese became Senior Manager, he assumed responsibility for more than 75 sales professionals in the corporate office and satellite branches. He earned recognition as the number one generator in the firm’s real estate division, owing in part to his skill in cold calling, prospecting, negotiating, and making deals. In addition to regularly exceeding sales goals, Scott Leese also showed a knack for predicting monthly sales trends.

Since that time, he has brought his talents to DotNext Inc. and Democrasoft Inc. At DotNext Inc., Scott Leese turned the nascent Internet company into one worth millions of dollars by promoting LeapFish, the company’s multi-dimensional online search portal. From Democrasoft Inc., Leese provided collaborative social networking tools for clients in a myriad of industries.

Currently, Scott Leese works for Main Street Hub, a San Francisco-based company that connects smaller local businesses with patrons through social media, as its Vice President of Sales.

Tactics for Marketing with Social Media

Based out of Austin, Texas, Scott Leese currently serves as Vice President of Sales for Main Street Hub, which provides social media marketing services to a variety of business clients. An experienced professional, Scott Leese previously led the sales operations for Demacrasoft Inc. and DotNext Inc.

Over the past five years, social media usage has exploded. Facebook may have started with young consumers, but a broad slice of society participates today. As a result, many companies have begun marketing their goods online. Five social media marketing tips and approaches appear below.

1. Create accounts on video- and photo-sharing sites. Though software now exists to block banner ads, leveraging accounts on sites such as Flickr gives you the chance to promote your products in a visual and creative way.

2. Prioritize information. Many social media users look for helpful tips as opposed to outright promotion.

3. Be true to your brand. Avoid misrepresenting your interests. Social media users are savvy and will see through such tactics.

4. Keep up with your social media sites. If you establish a Twitter account, provide updates on a regular basis. You will lose followers if you let such an account languish.

5. Post educational podcasts. If you seek to market a new product, or in an emerging industry, such information can help potential customers better understand the item.

  • Volunteering at the UCSF Medical Center, Scott Leese

Ranked one of the nation’s top 10 hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center furthers research on a range of medical specialties, from cancer to women’s reproductive health. Each of the UCSF Medical Center’s locations focus on giving compassionate, personal care to their patients, while utilizing the latest tools and techniques in medical technology. A key part of the high-quality service patients receive is the dedicated work of the volunteers who come each year to the UCSF Medical Center.

Volunteers perform a variety of tasks at the UCSF Medical Center, for a variety of reasons. Most of them offer their time and energy because they want to help care for others and give back to their local community. Other volunteers come for the opportunity to learn more about the medical field, build their resumes, and make valuable professional connections.

Volunteers make a minimum commitment of six consecutive months in their volunteer assignments. They typically work for three to four hours per day, one day per week. After completing the mandatory orientation session and health screening, volunteers meet with a staff member to determine optimal placement. Some of the departments where volunteers assist the medical staff are the Emergency Department, the Fall and Safety Team, and the Hospital Nursing Units.

Another way that members of the community can support the UCSF Medical Center and their work is to donate through the numerous foundations established to support medical research and patient care. These programs include the Center for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease, the Rudi Schmid Fund for UCSF Gastroenterology, and the Liver Research Fund.

Approximately 770,000 patients come to the Medical Centers each year for treatment. The care they receive is made possible through the generosity of both volunteers and donors.
